Tasting Umbria | The Olive Harvest Tour 2017

Olive harvest tour 2017
I didn’t think it could get any better than exploring Umbria on our own, but turns out- sharing it with other travelers is amazing. On a bright and sunny autumn day, we welcomed our new friends to the farmhouse perched on the side of a mountain looking over the valley towards Assisi, and hoped they would love this place as much as we do.

Arriving a few days before our guests to confirm reservations and plans, Letizia and I had fun planning and picking out some special treats from a favorite gourmet shop as welcome gifts for each couple. Our long weekend kicked off with a welcome aperitivo on the terrace overlooking the valley and an overview of our delicious days together.

I can’t possibly share every moment from the tour- but I wanted to give you an idea of what coming to Umbria with us is like through words and photos.

We call it a culinary adventure, and it is truly that.
Our days are filled with cheese, wine & olive oil tastings, visiting local artists workshops, exploring ancient villages, eating SO MANY good meals, attending a special olive harvest party & seeing the process of Olive oil from the fruit being picked off the trees, to the moment just hours later when the olives are pressed into a bright green and grassy oil that is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted.

Our days were filled with...
- Vineyards.
- Sunshine.
- Olive Groves.
- Laughter.
- Wine tasting.
- Cooking Class.
- Artisan Workshops.
- Medieval Villages.
- Delicious Meals.
I can't guarantee the sunshine, but there is a 100% chance of everything else here happening!

This year the weather was amazing, and we had our cooking class out on the terrace. It was cool in the shade, but everyone really enjoyed it despite the cool temps.

The highlight of our tour was spending the afternoon at our friend Corinna's family olive grove. Every year Corinna and her family celebrate the return of the New Oil, and invite us to join them.
It is a relaxing day of celebration, feasting, time with friends. Our guests loved the wine, food, Olive Grove Tour, Oil tasting and just time to soak up the sunshine and relax in the Umbrian countryside.
It's such a special time and we are so thrilled to be able to be a part of a large Italian family for the day!

Once upon a time, I walked through a silvery green olive grove on the side of a mountain in Umbria and had a big dream. My dream was to share this experience with my family and friends. I have to tell you how thrilled I am to bring that dream to life with the help and assistance of my wonderful partners Letizia & Barbara in Umbria.

Our next culinary adventure is in October. We’d love to have you join us! You can get more information here, or send me a message. I’m happy to hop on the phone with you and answer any questions you might have. Hope to see you soon!
